Ingredient Breakdown:
Grapeseed Oil - Made of fatty acids, phenols and other compounds like Vitamin E. hydrating, antioxidants, omega-6 fatty acids, provides sun damage protection and is noncomedogenic, can pass through pores.
Aloe Vera gel - Contains approximately 98.5% water. Contains potentially 75 active constituents such as vitamins, minerals, enzymes, sugars, lignin, saponins, salicylic acids, amino acids, vitamin A,C,E, B12, folic acid and choline. Moisturizing, provides skin protection and is antibacterial.
Beeswax - Is non-comedogenic, passes through pores, has antibacterial benefits, moisturizes, creates a protective barrier and is rich in Vitamin A which is well known for improving skin and making skin supple.
Orange wax - Is noncomedogenic, passes through pores, and has minor components that are well known for their antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties. A recycled byproduct from the juice industry, wax from the peel of the orange, which acts as an emollient, can shield, moisturize and lubricate skin. A vegan alternative to lanolin, sheep’s grease because of similar emollient and moisturizing properties.
Shea butter - Made of fatty acids and vitamins A,D and E. Contains triglycerides, the fatty part of the shea nut, that nourishes and conditions skin. Cetylesters is the waxy part of the shea nut that conditions and locks in moisture. Antioxidants like phytosterol and allantoin help with irritations. Linoleic acid aka omega-6 helps promote skin growth.
Grapefruit Seed Extract - Rich in beta-carotene, an antioxidant which hydrates skin and improves circulation. Antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal. Reduces bad bacteria and builds good bacteria.
Aqua - Latin word for water. Used primarily as a solvent to bind ingredients together.
Glycerin - Vegetable glycerin is made from vegetable fats, water and sometimes alkali. It is a humectant and emollient which draws water into the skin and helps retain moisture. Protects skin and promotes skin barrier repair.
Stearic Acid - A long chain fatty acid that acts as an emollient, emulsifier and lubricant. Moisturizes skin by creating a barrier to prevent moisture loss. Also used to bind ingredients together. Naturally occurs in shea and cocoa butter.
Sodium Stearate - A white fatty acid salt. Derived from natural sources like coconut oil or tallow, animal fat. A multipurpose ingredient that helps with cleansing, thickening and emulsifying. Provides sunscreens and chapsticks with waterproofing properties.
Chamomile Extract - Botanical extract of chamomile flowers, antibacterial and antifungal. Polyphenols are antioxidants that fight free radicals to prevent environmental damage and tightens pores.
Vitamin E - Is a humectant and emollient which helps skin absorb and retain water, it can help protect skin from sun damage, soothes chapped lips and protects skin by fighting free radicals with antioxidants.
Gluconolactone - A white crystalline powder that is a naturally occurring substance that's used in food and skincare. White crystalline powder. Does not pass the first layer of skin, used as a chemical exfoliant and moisturizer.
Sodium Benzoate - White, crystalline powder used in foods primarily as a preservative. It consists of benzoic acid and sodium hydroxide. Benzoic acid is found in cinnamon, cloves, berries, plums, tomatoes, apples and cranberries. Sodium benzoate is generally regarded as safe in small amounts by the FDA.
Essential Oils:
Tea Tree - Antifungal, antibacterial, moisturizes dry skin, reduces itching and reduces odor.
Lavender - Balances oil production, maintains skin pH balance, and is antimicrobial. Very soothing and gives skin a radiant glow, can help firm the face, tighten pores and reduce blemishes. Antibacterial and antifungal.
Basil - contains vitamin C, is skin brightening and antimicrobial which cleanses and purifies skin.
Lemon - Antibacterial, antifungal, reduces wrinkles, contains vitamin C, lutein and carotene. Neutralizes odors, cleanses and purifies skin.
Sage - Antibacterial, contains an antioxidant called rosmarinic which can combat free radical damage. May help regulate sebum production making it suitable for oily skin types.
Clove - Antibacterial, antimicrobial, improves circulation, contains antioxidants, antiseptic, and soothes irritation.
